Patrick Cappiello started on the retail side of the wine industry. As the Sommelier at some of the most prestigious restaurants, he ascended to the top of that particular mountain and was named Food & Wine Magazine’s “Sommelier of the Year” in 2014. From that peak, he saw other heights he wanted to scale and began a journey to become a winemaker. Under the watchful eye of his mentor, the legendary Pax Mahle, he developed Monte Rio Cellars, a brand focused on heritage and classic California varietals made in a traditional way, with organically farmed fruit and minimal intervention. The results are delicious, terroir driven, friendly, and affordable wines. Liz Patrick from Kellogg Selections will be on hand to walk us through this amazing portfolio.
